A juxtaposition on the phrase "the old ball and chain" in reference to one's wife, this piece was made in response to the growing conversation around women's contribution to the home going ignored. An increasingly relevant conversation in a society where women are still expected to cook, clean and look after the children while often also having full time jobs. My mind focused in on the phrase "the old ball and chain" as I wondered how that term applies to someone who does everything for you? This led me to turning the phrase on its head, creating a ball and chain with the effect of floating like a helium balloon.
