A SWING AND A MISS

2026, latex, toy stuffing, concrete, golf club, golf ball, golf tee, gesso

I love incorporating found objects into my work, altering the way that they are usually used to suspend them in a state of surrealism. Coming across a golf club presented an interesting challenge as displaying it in action meant finding a way to defy gravity. Changing the context of an object always creates a sense of the absurd, so here I kept the golf ball and the hands holding it but removed the usual person and landscape. Here the golf ball and club sit on top of a block of cement, with a pair of hands cast from latex poised at the top of the club, ready to take a swing.
